STCW stands for Standards of Training Certification, and watch keeping for Seafarers. It’s an international convention that establishes a basic set of rules for seafarers around the world to ensure the safety of the world’s seas and ships. The STCW is considered one of the most important regulations for merchant marine and is required for any crew member working on a commercial ship or yacht.
STCW-compliant Basic Training courses cover topics such as: Basic fire fighting, Personnel survival techniques, Personnel safety and social responsibilities, and first aid and CPR.

The STCW course is one week, if you have your passport and health card along with your Resume/CV. You could start in as little as a week. The yachting industry is one of the biggest growing careers today. The good part is almost all yachting jobs at an entry level are hands on training. Almost all of what you invest into getting started, you can make back in the first month.
